Blog Workshop Today

Friday 19th April.

Well today was the day of the blog workshop at the local library (thanks Hoi) and I learnt how to blog 'correctly'. I found the other workshoppers great and I hope I wasn't too noisy. Whenever I go anywhere new I talk too much. I guess that's what I like about blogs, I can talk nonstop and no one suffers. Anyway I was excited just to learn more about this art that the young kids do so easily.

I also discovered flickr, which seems like a great site to manage my photos. I do scrapbook my favourites, but in the age of digital photography its easy to take a lot of pics. Far too many to scrap.

I am also minding a friend's animals this week while she is away at her grandfathers funeral. The animals are a gorgeous little dog Casper, a rat Bliss and three guinea pigs. The latter do have names, bit apart from one whose name is Placid, I have forgotten the others names. I must have overfed Casper as his food has run out two days early, oops.

Friday 13th April, 2007

Hey there my name is Joss, well its actually Jocelyn, but Joss will do just fine. I live in Perth Western Australia and I am sixty five years old. I always think that should be, I have lived life to the fullest for sixty five years, but we all know that would be a great big fat lie. Its only now I am learning to live life fully and I am still not accomplishing that all the time.

Anyway the seasons are now changing and winter is on the way. Living in Perth, we don't get a lot of cold weather and with the climate here getting dryer, we don't get much rain either. One of my favourite hobbies is photography, which is quite strange because I hardly ever took any photos for my first sixty years. But now that digital cameras are here, I take pics all the time. I need instant gratification and the old film system was both expensive and time consuming.

So expect this blog to reflect my passion for pics, weather and food, hence the title of Licorice Allsorts. By the way I do love licorice allsorts, but nowadays they don't love me. Its all the food colours they contain. Sort of hypes me up and I become totally freaked out when I eat them. Heavens knows what it does to our kids? However if anyone from Bassetts reads this, feel free to send me tons of the jolly lolls to see if they hit the spot. In my opinion Bassets make the best LA's anywhere in the world. However Mr B I dislike the mini ones, so just send the big chunky ones instead.

There are two events this week that are to me newsworthy. The first is that I purchased a software program, BigOven wich allows me to enter my favourite recipes straight online and also allows me to see the nutrition content of my favourite foods.Yes I am like that, a food freak that worries about every morsel I put into my mouth. I thoroughly recommend this programme to all and sundry.

The second is that I have enrolled in a blogging class at my local library in Victoria Park. I am hopping to gain some insight to making this a fantastic blog.

This blog is my all time favourite and it's very well monitored by the beautiful young lass from Ipoh, Malaysia . It might just be that I visited Ipoh on my first ever trip abroad (except for my trips to Tassie where I lived for some time) I thought Ipoh was a very beautiful place indeed. But then I was there for less than twenty four hours.

Anyway here is her blog; http://cookingismypassion.blogspot.com/2006/06/sydney-food-and-wine-show-2006.html

Now if mine turns out to be nearly as good as this one, well I would be ecstatic! When I learn to do links I will have her link here.

Have a great Friday the 13th, Joss
